The ‘The Power of Language’ exhibition curated by Ali Akay comprised works of artists from Diyarbakır, İstanbul, Ankara, Adana and Hatay. The event took place December 5-21, 2003 in Keçi Burcu (Goat Bastion), one of the most significant historical sites in Mardin Kapı, Diyarbakır. The exhibition featured different media artworks including photographs, paintings, videos and installations, all focusing on the power of language in visual arts. The design of the exhibition space carefully aimed at exposing all artworks to each other, so as to break the isolation of the exhibited works and enable interactions. The exhibition was accompanied by a panel, where curator Ali Akay and artist Muzaffer Tire discussed the featured artworks and the conceptual framework of the exhibition.
