Diyarbakır Arts Center hosted a contemporary art exhibition, Cengiz Tekin’s ‘Purported Portrait of An Artist’ exhibition January 5-February 6, 2008. Cengiz Tekin, who produces video and performance works as well as photography in Diyarbakır, focuses on post-traumatic mental and body states in his works, while composing images, fictions, and references from an ironic and critical perspective. His works combine ‘undocumented’ life and art practices with humorous references, reveal scenes that can be described as unreal and absurd. Following the opening of the exhibition, a conversation between Cengiz Tekin and curator Şener Özmen was held.
