The Hafriyat Art Group’s exhibition ‘Local Heaven, Contemporary Transportation’ was held in Diyarbakır Arts Center and Mardin Kapı Keçi Burcu (Goat Bastion) November 11-25, 2006. The exhibition comprised different mediums of art including paintings, drawings, sculptures, photographs and films. Hafriyat artists have been working as a collective since 1996 with a shared interest in issues of urban transformation and urban identities. Particularly focusing on the overlooked and the marginalized in urban daily life, the collective mingles their art with street culture and urban subcultures. After the opening of their exhibition in Diyarbakır, Hafriyat artists met the audience at a panel on 12 November 2006, where they talked about the ‘Local Heaven, Contemporary Transportation’ exhibition as well as their art practices in general.
