The third ‘Diyarbakır Comparative Literature Days’, the first two of which were held in 2013 and 2018, was organized in partnership with Lîs Publishing and Diyarbakır Arts Center in September-October 2020. Wêjegeh Amed | Diyarbakır Literature House, founded by Lîs Publishing in February 2019, was also among the organizing partners in 2020. The online program, which was broadcasted via the Wêjegeh Amed’s YouTube channel, comprised of a series of talks, discussions, and panels that reflect upon the past and contemplated the future through the lens of literature during a time when predicting the near future has become more difficult than ever due to the global pandemic. The main theme of this year’s event, “”Literature and the Fragile Future,”” which was also the title of the opening event, was determined to bring up the proposition that literature has an empowering effect that enables people to collectively think and feel about mutual concerns. The program included comparisons of literary masters, sessions on underrepresented languages, gender-based literary criticisms, new approaches to literary texts using concepts such as eco-fiction and eco-criticism, publishing, and digitalization. The online program was enriched with a short story that was the output of the ‘Imagined City Creative Writing Workshop’ and short videos that were the outputs of the Poetry-Film workshop, which aimed to envision poems by four contemporary Kurdish poets as films, both of which were realized over the course of summer 2020 within the scope of the program. The 3rd Diyarbakır Comparative Literature Days Program concluded with the closing speech by Bavê Nazê, the guest of honor, who shared the adventure of his literary practice in search of reality and truth.
