The ‘Home not Home’ project, which aims to create a cooperation and cultural exchange platform between Sweden and Turkey, supported by the Ministry of Culture of Sweden and prepared as a contribution to the EU Year of Intercultural Dialogue, also visited Diyarbakır with a series of events organized in cooperation with Diyarbakır Arts Center. Within the scope of the project, various activities were organized for children, women, and youth in cooperation with Intercult, Riksutställningar and Riksteatern, which are institutions that are based in Sweden and organize international events. The theater workshop was conducted by director Dritëro Kasapi from Riksteatern. Hakan Vreskala, who continues his studies in Sweden, conducted the music workshop whose participants were students of Dicle University State Conservatory. A third event was the premiere of a video artist Selda Asal and musician Serdar Ateşer created with a group of young people living in Diyarbakır aged between 15-20. Hey Dünya Duy Sesimi, which premiered on 16 December 16, 2008, titled work was the product of a ten-day music workshop facilitated by Selda Asal. During the workshop, participants expressed their views on the wars, deaths, poverty, and their dreams for the future with the lyrics they wrote. The music video was created with music performed by Serdar Ateşer, whose composition was inspired by these lyrics drafted during the workshop. Selda Asal’s Umudu Onarmak: Bana Bak! (Restore Hope: See Me!) was also screened as part of the program. After the screening of the film, which describes the violence experienced by Middle Eastern and Swedish women living in Sweden, from their perspectives, a panel titled ‘Violence Against Women’ was held.
