Justice Talks’ was held February 2004-May 2005 under the scope of ‘Rethinking the Concept of Modern Justice’ project, realized with the support of the Consulate General of Holland Matra-KAP programme. Academics, writers, poets, and journalists were invited to these talks. Approximately 1500 people participated in nine separate talks held at Diyarbakır Arts Center, Metropolitan Municipality of Diyarbakır and Dicle University for a year. The texts of these interviews were published in a book under the same name in 2007. As part of the same project, and with the support of the Prince Claus Fund, the ‘Justice Consumption’ exhibition was curated by Beral Madra. Artists from Turkey, Armenia, Georgia, Lebanon, Cyprus, Bosnia, Macedonia, and Syria -countries which have witnessed intense human rights violations and experienced great traumas in the last two decades- questioned the concept of justice with the works they produced in the field of painting and video. ‘Justice Throughout History’ workshop took place April 27-28, 2005. Istanbul Bilgi University faculty member Ferda Keskin made a presentation on the concept of justice and led a discussion on the relationship between justice and arts at the workshop attended by the ‘Justice Consumption’ exhibition curator Beral Madra, 17 graduate students from the Dutch Art Institute and artists from Diyarbakır.
