The ‘In Image We Trust’ exhibition, first held at İstanbul Atatürk Culture Center in 2001, was revised and expanded by curator Beral Madra in 2002. With the title of ‘In Image We Trust 2’, the exhibition was hosted by Diyarbakır Arts Center October 29 – December 15, 2002. A talk was held after the opening with the participation of Beral Madra and the artists. Featuring photographs, installations and mixed media artworks, the exhibition contemplated on the defiant potential of cultural metaphors in an era where all-pervasive technological images simulate and manipulate reality. While highlighting the potential of art images for offering a radically alternative position to their viewers, the exhibition emphasized the significance of the images of cultural metaphors in a time when image production is integral to the ideological apparatuses. Over one thousand people visited ‘In Image We Trust 2’.
