A panel titled ‘From Oral To Written Literature In Kurdish’ was organized at Diyarbakır Arts Center on 20 December 2003. In his speech, author and researcher Edib Polat drew a picture of the history of oral and written literature in general and discussed mythologies in different cultures. He then focused on some examples of oral and written literature featuring elements of Kurdish folklore. Following a comparison between the forms of oral and written literature, Polat explored different historical periods in Kurdish literature. In the final session of the panel, the audience participated in the discussion with their questions and comments.
