The Turkey leg of the ‘Yollarda’ Europe Culture Week Events project featured a program that delivers a range of photographs, films, readings, and concerts to 24 cities in Turkey, with the contribution of 48 writers from eight European countries. The events were held in Diyarbakır with the collaboration and organization of Diyarbakır Arts Center May 4-20, 2009. As part of the program, a bookmobile equipped with computers, internet access, and various audio-visual tools toured many cities, featuring the works of the 48 writers involved in the project for the audience to review and read. The events in Diyarbakır were held at Dicle University, Diyarbakır Anatolian High School, and Diyarbakır Arts Center, and consisted of reading workshops, panels, concerts, exhibitions, short film screenings, and various performances. In addition to face-to-face gatherings, the youth were also provided with the opportunity to participate in discussions on contemporary arts in Europe via online forums. The ‘Yollarda’ project was realized with the support of Goethe Institut and European Council in partnership with Istanbul Bilgi University, Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (IKSV), Austrian Cultural Office Istanbul, Austrian High School Foundation (ALV), Romanian Cultural Center Istanbul, Consulate General of Hungary in Istanbul, Pro Helvetia, Turkish – German Business Association, Italian Cultural Center Istanbul, Consulate General of Bulgaria in Istanbul, and Anadolu Kültür.
