In collaboration with Anadolu Kültür, Kalan Music and the Maxim Gorki Theatre, Armenian composer and musicologist Gomidas was commemorated on the 150th anniversary of his birth with concerts held in Berlin, İstanbul and Diyarbakır, featuring many artists. The aim of the concerts was to introduce Gomidas, who is an important figure in the field of musicology, through his work regarding the preservation and transmission of cultural memory, and to draw attention to the musical legacy he left behind. The first concert took place on October 5, 2019 at the Maxim Gorki Theater in Berlin. On October 7, 2019, many artists from Turkey, Armenia and the United States took the stage in the concert ‘The Sound of Bright Morning | Gomidas 150 Years Old’ at Cemal Reşit Rey Concert Hall in Istanbul. The concert, which was attended by over 1200 people, was also broadcast live on Youtube, reaching an even wider audience. Both the first and second half of the concert are available on Kalan Music’s YouTube channel. The last concert was held on October 11, 2019 at Kervansaray Hotel in Diyarbakır. Featuring Ara Dinkjian, Ari Hergel, Ertan Tekin, Pervin Chakar, and the Zulal Trio, the concert was attended by nearly 600 music-lovers in Diyarbakır. The concerts were supported by the Federal Foreign Office of Germany, Allianz Kulturstiftung, and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
