Launched in March 2018, the online platform of ‘BAK: Revealing the City through Memory’, sehrebak.org, was initially designed in 2017 as a platform for young people to share and showcase their visual narratives on social issues. BAK is a cultural sharing and artistic production program that aims to identify the needs of young people willing to produce, and develops programs to meet those needs. It serves as a resource that conducts research, produces knowledge, and disseminates information through photography, video, and other visual media for anyone living in Turkey seeking insights into social issues. sehrebak.org that was established with the intention of creating a community where young people can connect over their shared interests, communicate, inquire, investigate, learn, have fun, and share, consists of five sections: Calls, Close-up, Meetings, Resources, and Depot.

The Calls section of sehrebak.org features texts inviting visual storytellers to create and share video and photography works on a specific subject and format. These calls, which are made periodically within the framework of a creative approach, technique, or subject, encourage the emergence of new works about the city and the issues that intersect with it, with the goal of inspiring visual production. Visual stories captured through the perspectives of image makers residing in different cities are collected in this section. The calls to date have focused on the intersection of social issues and personal expression, from childhood to urban space, from climate and environment to immigration, and from travel to everyday life. While the Close-up section features articles presenting and interpreting the photography and video works produced through the BAK calls on specific themes, subjects, impressions, and aesthetic elements, the Resources section compiles various written, visual, and audio resources on photography and video production. The resources in different languages have been translated into Turkish and localized for accessibility, and steps have been taken towards producing original resources that can be useful in practice. In these sections, the aim has been contributing to the diversification of perspectives, the proliferation of narratives, and the sharing of productions, experiences, and discoveries about the city through creating original content via photographs and video essays. The Meetings section provides information on short or long-term training, workshops, panels, and screenings organized for those interested in photography and video from different cities within the scope of the BAK program, and the Depot section serves as a database of video and photography works on the site.
