Diyarbakır Arts Center and Anadolu Kültür, in collaboration with Tango MED Dans ve Sanat Merkezi (Tango MED Dance and Arts Center), organized a research workshop titled ‘Dîwan: Me Between a Dengbêj and an Actor’ led by Mîrza Metîn, director at the Şermola Performans, September 15-22, 2014.
Inspired by Jerzy Grotowski’s acting approach, Dîwan is a workshop that employs the narrative methods of dengbêjs and çîrokbêjs, Kurdish storytellers. The workshop focuses on solo narratives, enabling an actor to explore any narrative on a theatrical platform through various exercises, including bodily awareness, resonation, sensation, physical communication, impulses of solitude, story-building, and researching the rhythm, sounds, and movements of a story.
