Diyarbakır Arts Center hosted the photography exhibition ‘Baghdad, Babylon and Kerbela / February 2003’ June 24 – July 10, 2003. The exhibition comprised the joint works of five photographers who travelled and photographed Iraq in an attempt at capturing the devastating effects of the war; their photographs demonstrated the turmoil and chaos in Iraq just before and soon after the US invasion in 2003. Following the opening ceremony, a talk titled ‘Baghdad Before The War” was held with the participation of with Özcan Yurdalan, one of the five photographers. Yurdalan focused on the topics of time, memory and war and his talk attracted great attention from the visitors. Over one thousand people visited the exhibition in fifteen days.
