Diyarbakır Comparative Literature Days, which was first held in 2013, was organized for the fourth time this year on October 21-30, 2022. In partnership with Diyarbakır Arts Center, the event was coordinated by Lîs Publishing, which opened up a space for Kurdish literature in world literature and translated important examples of world literature into Kurdish, and Wêjegeh Amed | Diyarbakır Literature House, which was established in February 2020 as a social and cultural initiative of Lîs Publishing. Diyarbakır Comparative Literature Days was organized for the second time in 2018, and after having taken place online in 2020, was held physically this time with the support of ‘Spaces of Culture’ in cooperation with Aras and Everest Publications. Relying on the genuine connections of creative expression with individual and social aspects, the sessions that were held over ten days aimed to explore the relationship between multilingual literature and various fields including social sciences, music, photography, cinema, contemporary art, and ecological activism, and to craft sentences about stories, truth, and imagination that speak to each other. The program brought together 70 writers and artists to engage with literature enthusiasts in a series of events on Kurdish, Turkish, Arabic, Circassian Adyghe, and Armenian languages and literatures. It featured talks and workshops on diverse thematic topics and disciplines related to literature, which attracted significant interest. In conjunction with the program, a memorial event for writer Mıgırdiç Margosyan was also organized at Surp Giragos Church. The event series ended with a closing speech by this year’s guest of honor, İhsan Colemêrgi.
